Job Description:

The Restaurant CPA/Accountant will assist off site accounting firm Swick & Asso., in accurate accounting and data entry in QuickBooks, control and reporting of all income, expenses, and inventories at The Fort Restaurant, The Fort’s retail store, and manage the non-profit Tesoro Cultural Center event and financial accounting. Will also manage some human resources such as tracking vacation, sick days off, of Fort employees.

Job Responsibilities:

PAYROLL:
Accountant/CPA will assist GM with payroll review through ADP portal, and assist in all payroll reporting, on the 5th and 20th of each month.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE AND RECEIVABLE:
Accountant/CPA will also assist GM in accounts payable, scanning and reconciling invoices, weekly. After invoices have been processed, reconcile vendor invoices with orders and check that payments for supplies, retail purchases and services are accurate. For accounts receivables, track POS sales, banquet sales, and all other revenue streams and reconcile with bank accounts. Will provide "snapshot" cash status to owner weekly.
Additionally, the Fort’s CPA/Accountant will assist with the non-profit Tesoro Cultural Center’s accounting (also located at The Fort) with Tesoro management and the Accounting firm Swick & Asso.
BUDGETS and FORECASTING:
Develop forecasting budgets and budgets for each department with the GM, assisting the managers in staying within his/her budget. Account for all credit card receipts per manager and code those expenses accordingly.
CASH MANAGEMENT:
Deposits: Assist GM and owner with counting cash, change orders and going to the bank to make deposits or picking up a change order.
Sales Tax and Accounting files- Keep an internal file on the SWICK & ASSO. accountant’s filings of all sales tax, including quarterly reports paid, and other necessary reporting documents.
Computer Inventory Management skills: Utilize and understand financial and statistical tools and reports using spreadsheets ensuring timeliness and accuracy of information with the Point of Sales System utilized by restaurant (TOAST), Coggs-Well inventory management system and skills in utilization of Microsoft Excel, and Pro Quickbooks. Perform spot audits.
Retail Inventory for Gift Shop: Maintain QuickBooks POS system for the Gift shop retail / online store. Assist Gift shop inventory manager to count and reconcile inventory sales and purchases for the retail store through this system. Perform spot audits.
HR- Keeping up on new laws that effect employees and business, track sick time, days off , FMLA for employees, etc.

Job Requirements:

Education
• College or business degree in accounting. Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent certificate required. Hospitality business school is a plus. Pro Quickbooks, TOAST POS computer skills a plus. Must know Excel, Microsoft, Pro Quickbooks and most all Microsoft Business software. Knowledge of ADP Workforce NOW, and Right Networks cloud-based platforms a plus. Knowledge of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOP) and annual IRS audits requirements when the business becomes an ESOP is a PLUS, but not required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Knowledge of Hospitality and Retail industry accounting processes.
• A basic understanding of a restaurant POS.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
